Install Android 4.0 ICS on your Sony Xperia S




Sony has announced the release of Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Sony Xperia S, and the update brings a range of new features to the handset.


Some of the new features in the Android 4.0.4 update for the Xperia S include a range of new media applications, there is a new Walkman application, which according to Sony ‘blends the best of signature Sony audio technology with social features’.

Before you start ! Please note that all your contents from the phone will be reset to factory defaults ! . So do backup your file before you start !

If you follow the guide perfectly it should work fine!

Step 1 :

You will have a new folder on your PC: c:\Flashtool 


Step 2 :
  • Download the ICS update firmware from :- Link 1 .
Download any of the firmware .
If you have an rar file then extract it.
You will be needing the .FTF extension file.

Step 3 :
  • The major step !!.. Updating ;)  

  1. Copy the firmware FTF file to c:\Flashtool\Firmwares.
  2. Do not connect your phone to the PC. Remove it if you have it connected.
  3. Go to c:\Flashtool\Drivers and run "Flashtool-drivers.exe" to install the proper drivers for your Xperia S.
  4.  After installing the USB drivers reboot your PC.
  5. Go to c:\Flashtool and run "FlashTool" if you'r using a 32 bit windows or  run "FlashTool64" if you'r using Windows 64.
  6. Click the thunder icon up left.[Flash button].
  7. Select "Flahsmode" and click "OK".
  8. Select the "LT26 6.1.A.0.452" firmware and click "OK", DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING ELSE.
  9. Flashtool will prepare the files for flashing.
  10. A Window will pop up asking you to connect the phone in "Flashmode".Just ignore the methord in the flash tool.Here is how to go to flash mode in your new Xperia S.
  11. Turn off the phone
  12. Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN key
  13. Keep it pressed, connect the USB cable to your PC
  14. Release the Volume Down key when phone's GREEN LED light glows.
  15. Flashtool will start flashing automatically, let it finish to 100%.It might take some time. Be patient :)
  16. Disconnect the USB cable when Flashtool reaches 100%. This indicates that flashing has finished. It will be giving some extra info about activating debugging mode etc.Again Ignore it :)
  17. Turn on your phone.
  18. Thats it !! You have your fresh 4.0 Ice cream sandwich update :).
  19. The first booting takes some time, don't worry let your phone prepare your Ice Cream Sandwich for you.
